Carley Kang

English Teacher

Hello everyone,

I’m Carley! I’m 28 years old, and I currently live in Atlanta, Georgia. I’m a mom of two boys, who make life, well, interesting. I have a wonderful fiancé and a golden Labrador named Yuna.

My hobbies are exercising and shopping. Yes, I include shopping as a hobby, even though it is a very expensive hobby. Now that you know a little bit about me, let’s dive into the good stuff.

Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Believe you can, and you’re halfway there.”

I first heard this quote back in the 8th grade. I remember sitting in my Economics class and having this quote just really resonate with me. You see, I am from a small town in Florida, but I have big dreams. I wanted to travel, work abroad, and just genuinely help make the world a better place. So, as a 14-year-old 8th grader, I decided that I wanted to help people, all over the world, through English. Why English? Well, I actually excelled at English, so I thought, “why not use English as a way to help others?”

I had many foreign exchange student friends at that time in my life, and I was excellent in English. By my 9th grade year, I had begun tutoring the foreign exchange students here and there, and well, the rest is history; I fell in love. Teaching English became my life, my passion, and my dream career.

I went on to graduate from the University of North Florida with a bachelor’s degree in English. In 2012, I moved to South Korea where I taught ESL for 5 years, became bilingual in Korean, and met Teacher Tiffani!

Now, I’m able to help you reach your English goals too through the Academy. I decided to join the Speak English With Tiffani family because I missed teaching. When I moved to Atlanta in 2018, I embarked on a career in editing. It’s a stable career, but something was missing. I missed the passion I had, and the joys teaching English gave me. Tiffani and I found each other again at the perfect time in our lives, and so, I joined the Speak English With Tiffani family.

What are my duties? Well, I dabble in this and that, but my main duties are correcting sentences and giving grammatical feedback.

So, what’s so special about me you ask? I’m glad you did! My students call me the “grammar queen,” or the “grammar police” because I love English grammar. Weird, right? I know. Although I’m also well versed in conversational English, writing, phonics, and of course, literature, if I had to pick a favorite, I would lean towards grammar. That being said, you can count on me with all your grammar needs! Let’s have you master English, one step at a time because believing you can, already makes you halfway there.
