5 Vocabulary Words [Definition, Sentences, Situations]

1. Ghosted

Definition: When someone suddenly stops all communication with you without explanation or warning.

Example Sentences:

  • I thought our date went well, but then he ghosted me and never responded to my texts.
  • My roommate completely ghosted the landlord when it was time to pay rent.
  • I can’t believe my job interviewer ghosted me after saying they’d call back!

Situations:

  1. In modern dating, when someone disappears without explanation
  2. When a friend suddenly stops replying to messages

2. Chill

Definition: Relaxed, easy-going, or laid-back; can also be used as a verb meaning to relax.

Example Sentences:

Situations:

Definition: Extremely crowded or full of people; very busy.

Situations:

  1. Describing popular venues during peak times

4. Legit

Definition: Short for “legitimate”; genuine, authentic, or actually good/impressive.

Example Sentences:

  • This online store is totally legit. I’ve ordered from them many times.

Situations:

  1. Vouching for the quality of a business or service

5. Bail

Definition: To leave suddenly or abandon plans; to cancel at the last minute.

Example Sentences:

  • If the party gets boring, we can just bail and go somewhere else.
  • My ride bailed on me, so I had to take an Uber home.
  • Don’t bail on me again – I already made reservations!

Situations:

  1. When someone cancels plans unexpectedly
  2. Deciding to leave an event early
  3. When someone fails to fulfill a commitment
